World Law Congress 2021 through the eyes of our partners

Their first stop: Quito. There they met with Ecuadorian clients and gave exclusive trainings. After these first activities, they left for Colombia, where they met with Juan Martín Fierro, partner of the firm in Colombia, and Wilfredo Murillo, partner in Peru.

During the days prior to the World Law Congress, our partners also provided activities and training to law firms in Colombia: personalized workshops, trainings and an exclusive workshop in the city of Bogota.

On December 2 and 3, all our partners participated in the World Law Congress 2021, celebrated in Barranquilla, organized by the World Law Foundation and co-organized by our consulting firm, Gericó Associates. The event hosted, during two interesting and long days, great personalities from the world of law: more than 1,500 judges, lawyers, magistrates, professors, prosecutors, academics, notaries and students from 140 different countries attended.

The event began with opening remarks by Javier Cremades, president of the World Jurist Association; Pablo Casado, president of the Partido Popular in Spain; Wilson Ruiz, president of the Organizing Committee; Viviane Reding, vice president of the WLF and the European Commission; José Igreja, president of the International Union of Magistrates; and María Juliana Ruiz, first lady of the Republic of Colombia.

The theme of the event was the rule of law and how it affects the development of nations, an issue that was analyzed in depth in more than 52 discussion panels.

In closing, the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, received from the hands of King Felipe VI of Spain the World Peace & Liberty Award from the World Jurist Association, in recognition of Colombia’s commitment to democratic values and the rule of law.

The World Jurist Association was also able to present medals of honor to Antonio Ramón Villaraigosa, former mayor of Los Angeles; Hilarie Bass, former president of the American Bar Association; Patricia Lee Refo, former president of the American Bar Association; The World Justice Project; the Constituents of the 1991 Political Constitution of Colombia; Cheol-Kyu Hwang, president of the International Association of Attorneys General; José Igreja, president of the International Union of Judges; and Reginald Turner, current president of the American Bar Association.

It has been an unforgettable experience for our members. Since December 4, 2021, we have been working on the next edition, which will take place in 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland.
